The Astros’ resurgence helped forge a Houston outpost in Tennessee.
Ten miles from the Gaylord Opryland resort — the massive, self-contained maze that hosted baseball’s 2015 winter meetings — is a small bakery called Yeast, an alcove for both Houstonians and Astros fans.
“When the playoffs started, I had a lot of people saying, ‘I don’t normally watch baseball, but I’m going to watch baseball for you and get on board,’” said the store’s co-owner, Bill LaViollette.
LaViollette, 47, wears an orange Astros hat and sells kolaches in a shop that closes at 1 p.m., its stock on most days wiped out.
