ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Astros are not going to run roughshod over the American League West.
A tough but mishandled throw home from first baseman Chris Carter on a bunt up the first baseline broke an eighth-inning tie and put the Angels ahead in a 4-3 Astros loss Monday night.
The Astros were down 3-1 entering the top of the eighth inning before rallying for a pair of runs. The Halos shot out of the gate in the bottom of the inning against reliever Chad Qualls, a shaky entry of late, with an Erick Aybar single.
Aybar took second on a wild pitch and with one out and lefty Joe Thatcher on the mound, stole third base.
