"I was ready for yesterday, but they decided to give me another day, and I appreciate it, to make sure I'm 100 percent," Altuve said.
Altuve entered the game hitting .287 with five homers, 28 RBIs and 17 stolen bases, which leads the American League. He hit leadoff to begin the season, but was moved to second in late May when Springer went to the top of the order. Manager A.J. Hinch slotted Altuve into the third spot on Monday behind the red-hot Springer and rookie sensation Carlos Correa.
"We had set out a little bit of a road map to get him in there," Hinch said.
