The University of Hawai’i basketball team received a perfect score of 1,000 in the Academic Performance Rate (APR) for the 2017-18 academic year, according to statistics released by the NCAA this week.
The perfect score for 2017-18 raised UH’s multi-year score to 956 (it was at 947 last year).
The APR is a formula used by the NCAA to encourage schools to retain scholarship athletes and maintain their eligibility for competition. Teams with a four-year score below 930 (or a two-year average below 950) can be penalized with scholarship reductions, practice restrictions and post-season bans.
The multi-year rate reflects the average of the four most recent academic years.
