Kamaka Hepa scored 19 points and made a game-securing play in the closing seconds to lead the University of Hawai’i basketball team to a 70-67 road win at Long Beach State on Saturday.
A crowd of 1,715 at the Walter Pyramid watched the Rainbow Warriors hold off a furious late rally from the Beach to improve to 19-8 overall and 10-5 in the Big West Conference. LBSU, which trailed by 13 points with less than five minutes remaining, dropped to 15-13 overall and 9-7 in the conference.
The Warriors won both regular-season games against the Beach this season, and have not lost consecutive games this season.
