Warriors blow past FAMU in season opener, 65-52

Samuta Avea scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Zigmars Raimo added 10 points and five boards tonight to help Hawai’i blow past Florida A & M, 65-52, in its 100th season opener.

A crowd of about 2,500 at the Stan Sheriff Center watched Drew Buggs add nine points, seven boards and five assists as the Warriors won despite the absence of head coach Eran Ganot, who is on indefinite medical leave.

Kamron Reaves scored 11 points to lead the Rattlers, who fell to 0-2.
The Warriors jumped out to a 21-4 lead in the game’s first 11 minutes, and then expanded it to 32-12 by halftime.
