It was close for a half, but the UH-Hilo women’s basketball team got hit by Dominican’s scoring avalanche in the second half.
The Penguins defeated the Vulcans 85-54 on Monday in San Rafael, Calif., shooting 50 percent in the second half.
Felicia Kolb and Lauren Hong each scored 15 points for UHH (5-12, 5-7 PacWest), who trailed 41-37 at halftime.
Carly Hoboke scored 22 points to lead Dominican (14-6, 10-3).
“Unfortunately, we were not as good defensively as we have been for the last couple of games,” UHH coach David Kaneshiro said.
