The local girl is coming home to take over for the University of Hawaii volleyball coaching legend.
Former Rainbow Wahine setter Robyn Ah Mow-Santos, also an Olympian and UH assistant coach, has been hired to replace Dave Shoji, UH athletic director David Matlin said Monday in a statement.
Shoji, who spent 42 seasons at head coach and has 1,202 wins (second-most in NCAA Division I history) and four national championships, also announced his retirement on Monday.
“I don’t think anyone will ever match what Dave has accomplished for our Rainbow Wahine volleyball program in terms of longevity and accomplishments,” Matlin said.
