While it’s true there is not as much competition for this award than during the heart of the BIIF and UH-Hilo seasons, it should be noted that Shiraki probably would have been honored in this space had it existed back when he was a standout for the Honokaa Dragons’ baseball and soccer teams.
The 2012 Honokaa graduate put the finishing touches on his college career last week by helping Northern Colorado to its first victory at the Western Athletic Conference tournament, earning the win in relief against Utah Valley.
