The season came to an official close for the University of Hawai’i basketball team on Sunday, when brackets for the various postseason tournaments were announced.
The Rainbow Warriors, who finished 18-13 overall after a heartbreaking 68-66 loss to Long Beach State in the quarterfinals of the Big West Conference Tournament, were already made aware by school officials that they would decline any potential invitations to the so-called “pay to play” tournaments such as the CBI or CIT.
A total of three Big West teams will be continuing play in the postseason.
Regular-season and conference tournament champion UC Irvine earned the conference’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
