The four-year transformation of Zigmars Raimo from seldom-used reserve to key starter for the University of Hawai’i basketball team was rewarded on Monday, when he was named the Big West Conference Best Hustle co-Player of the Year.
Raimo, a 6-foot-9 senior forward, shared the award with UC Irvine senior forward Tommy Rutherford.
Raimo is averaging 9.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists per game and 1.7 steals per game this season. He ranks second in the conference for steals, fourth for rebounds, and seventh for assists.
He has started all 30 games for the Rainbow Warriors, and ranks seventh in the conference for playing time at 32.
