Someone underestimated Saint Francis’ softball team.
The Saints jumped out to an early lead and denied top-seeded Kamehameha from making its first trip to the HHSAA Division II title game with a 9-0 victory Friday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Six-time BIIF champion Kamehameha was held to just four hits, including doubles by Kiarra Lincoln and Jessica Cameros.
Cameros took the loss, pitching three innings, and Brooke Baptiste, Wednesday’ winner against Waipahu, worked the final three.
The unseeded Saints (10-5), the ILH champion, won for the third day in a row. Skye Ah Yat hit a first-inning grand slam and Sierrah Kupihea pitched six solid innings, striking out seven.
