Catching up on some news from last week …
Five players from the University of Hawai’i basketball team were named to the 2019 Big West Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll for academic achievement.
Sophomores Mate Colina and Zoar Nedd were on the “Highest Honors” list for student-athletes with grade point averages of between 3.51 and 4.00.
Senior Zigmars Raimo was on the “With Honors” list for student-athletes with GPAs between 3.21 and 3.50.
Sophomores Dawson Carper and Justin Hemsley were on the “Honor Roll” list for student-athletes with GPAs between 3.00 and 3.20.
According to the Big West, current student-athletes named to the list had to be on a roster for a Big West team at the conclusion of the previous season (essentially meaning they had to be in school for at least two years to be eligible).
