Cold shooting spoiled the University of Hawai’i basketball team’s long-awaited conference home opener on Friday.
The Rainbow Warriors shot just 33 percent from the field in a 60-55 loss to CSU Bakersfield in a Big West Conference game at the SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
Hawai’i dropped to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference. The Roadrunners, who are in their first season in the Big West, improved to 8-4 and 4-1.
Junior Madut led the Warriors with 12 points and 10 rebounds – his first double-double in a Hawai’i jersey. James Jean-Marie added 11 points, and Mate Colina scored 10.
