College basketball: Hawaii surges in second half to drop Hawaii Pacific

HONOLULU — Stefan Jankovic had a career-high 29 points on 10-of-14 shooting, Isaac Fleming added 16 points and Hawaii beat Hawaii Pacific 83-71 on Saturday night.

Aaron Valdes had all 12 of his points in the second half and Quincy Smith scored 10. The Rainbow Warriors (7-1) pulled away midway through the second half with 17 straight points and led 74-53 on Fleming’s 3-point play with 5:07 left. Hawaii Pacific answered with 10 straight but never got within single digits.

After Hawaii opened the game with a 10-2 run, Hawaii Pacific quickly responded for a 13-12 lead.
