KAILUA-KONA — With only minor hiccups, Kamehameha-Hawaii opened the Division I playoffs by beating Hilo in four sets on Friday at Kealakehe High School to advance to the BIIF championship.
The Warriors will play Waiakea, which swept Kealakehe in the other semifinal, at 7 p.m. Saturday in search of a Division I repeat.
Kamehameha reached the finals by dismantling Hilo in the semis 25-15, 25-12, 23-25, 25-13. The lost set came when Kamehameha elected to clear its bench.
Despite the lopsided victory, Kamehameha coach Guy Enriques wasn’t particularly thrilled with the way his team played.
“It was a slow game and I thought Hilo did a pretty good job in pushing us.
