Andre Carvalho hit the game-winning shot Monday night in Pahala, and Ka’u beat Pahoa 49-47 to bolster its chances of hosting a BIIF boys basketball Division II playoffs game.
Isaiah Pilanca-Emmsley led the Trojans (3-4) with 16 points, and Carvalho had 10. Ka’u moved into a third-place tie with Kohala.
Damon Romero scored a game-high 27 for the Daggers (2-5), who fell a game behind the Cowboys and Trojans in fifth.
The top two squads in the six-team playoffs will receive byes, with the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds hosting first-round playoff games.
Ka’u led 28-17 at halftime before Pahoa battled back.
