Ahmed Ali will not play this season

Ahmed Ali, a senior transfer, has been declared medically ineligible and will not play for the University of Hawai’i basketball team.

Ali, a 5-foot-11 guard, played last season at Washington State and signed with the Rainbow Warriors in August. He participated in some preseason workouts with the Warriors, but has remained inactive since official practices started on September 28.

In a statement issued through UH, Hawai’i head coach Eran Ganot said: “It’s an extremely unfortunate situation. In the short span he’s been here, Ahmed has made such a positive impact on our program. Above all, we care for Ahmed and his well-being.
