The University of Hawai’i basketball team’s 76-75 win over UC Davis on Saturday night was memorable for so many reasons.
Of course, the game-winning 3-point shot by Eddie Stansberry in the closing seconds that kept the Rainbow Warriors in first place was reason enough. But for the 4,669 in attendance at the Stan Sheriff Center, there was much more that made it a night to remember.
• The game was promoted as a “A Celebration of 100 Seasons” of UH basketball, and dozens of former players and coaches were in attendance, including all five members of the legendary “Fabulous Five” group from the 1970s.
