Less than a year ago, I told everyone they needed to relax when it came to then-rookie K Anders Carlson’s struggles. He’d had a bumpy preseason for the Green Bay Packers, frequently missing kicks we were used to seeing former K Mason Crosby nail with perfection. GM Brian Gutekunst told us patience would be needed, and boy, was it. Carlson finished the regular season making 81.8% of his FG attempts (27 of 33), and 87.2% of his XP attempts (34 of 39). Thanks to Green Bay’s incredible performance against the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs, he saw seven XP attempts, of which he made six.
