At least for the time being, the Green Bay Packers are turning their inside linebacker positions over to their young bucks.
The decision to release veteran Christian Kirksey to save salary cap space means Green Bay feels okay with second year undrafted free agent Krys Barnes in the middle, backed up and sometimes joined by 2020 5th round draft pick Kamal Martin.
Barnes’ rise has been especially meteoric, considering he was on the practice squad on September 6th of this past year. The former UCLA Bruin wasn’t even signed to the active roster until September 12, exactly one day before Green Bay opened the season at Minnesota.
