Green Bay — Mike McCarthy has gotten rid of assistant coaches at a rate never before witnessed by the Green Bay Packers.
Entering his 11th season, McCarthy lopped off three more in the last month in what he hopes results in a more vibrant approach for his stagnant offense.
"It brings new energy, it brings new ideas," McCarthy said Thursday about his significant staff adjustments. "It brings a freshness aspect that we really haven't had a lot of."
Continuity still has meaning for McCarthy, as it obviously does for team President Mark Murphy and general manager Ted Thompson.
