Four-time All-Pro, six-time Pro Bowler and NFL defensive player of the year Myles Garrett shocked the sports world on Monday when he announced that he has requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns. While the early reporting claims that the Browns do not plan to trade Garrett, the star defensive end has made it clear that he wants to play for a contender.
It’s rare for a star of Garrett’s caliber to become available in the NFL. The most recent example of a Garrett-like defensive end being traded is probably Khalil Mack, who was sent to the Chicago Bears by the Oakland Raiders at the cost of two first-round picks, a third-round pick and a sixth-round pick in exchange for Mack, a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick.
