Heading into the 2022 season, the Packers had a big challenge on offense: they had to replace Davante Adams. Of course, replacing him on a one-to-one basis was never going to happen. There are few, if any, players in the NFL who could replace what Adams brought to the offense, and none of them were available to the Packers anyway.
Instead, the Packers tried to replace Adams with volume. Between holdovers Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and Robert Tonyan, free agent signing Sammy Watkins, and draft picks Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Samori Toure, the hope was that they could produce a competent enough passing offense to offset the loss of Adams.
