When Brian Gutekunst set out on his first free agency period as general manager of the Green Bay Packers, cornerback was originally a top priority.
Then the price of contracts blew up and Gutekunst had to settle for Tramon Williams from the bargain bin. Another name that was likely at the top of his list was Bashaud Breeland but thanks to a non-football injury he suffered to his foot which was followed by an infection, teams likely were scared off Green Bay included.
Fast forward to the regular season. Breeland got healthier and Gutekunst pounced, even if he knew it would take a few weeks to get him up to speed as well as completely healthy.
