INDIANAPOLIS -- If ever Ted Thompson decided to give one final interview, this should be the place. For it was at the NFL scouting combine where the former Green Bay Packers general manager did his best work.
His draft-centric roster-building philosophy defined his 13-year tenure, which ended in January when team president Mark Murphy replaced him with Brian Gutekunst.
But Thompson wasn't at the Indiana Convention Center this week.
No one knows for sure, but it is likely the first combine without Thompson since he became a scout in 1992 following a 10-year playing career with the Houston Oilers.
