The USA TODAY Network – Tennessee was honored with 17 awards in the Super Bowl of sports journalism contests Thursday, including twice for investigations that are being heralded among the best in the country regardless of newspaper circulation size.
Five of the Network’s news organizations — The Tennessean, Knoxville News Sentinel, The Commercial Appeal, The Leaf Chronicle and The Jackson Sun — were recognized for work published in 2020 during the annual Associated Press Sports Editors writing contest.
Sports editors and journalists throughout the country voted on the writing awards. Photography awards are expected to be announced announced next week.
