The saying goes that your bye always comes at a good time, and that feels true. No matter when it falls during the season, your team can always use a little rest and recovery time. Injuries, fatigue, and the general attrition of a season of NFL football are always going to be taking their toll, and rest is the only counter to those factors.
If that’s true of a normal bye, I’d have to imagine the same is true of the mini-vacation that comes after a Thursday Night Football game. The Packers didn’t get the benefit of that rest after their Thanksgiving win over the Dolphins, but the Lions’ game was a traditional Thursday night affair.
