Through two weeks, the Packers’ new Jeff Hafley-led defense has mostly gotten the job done. Early turnovers against the Eagles should have given the Packers enough of a cushion to come away with a win. A similar effort against the Colts actually did the trick.
But there are still some concerns. The run defense has been gashed twice, and but for Jonathan Taylor’s conspicuous in the fourth quarter the Colts might have been able to grind out a comeback. That’s probably a personnel issue as much as a scheme one; the Packers are short on stout run defenders now, just as they were throughout the Joe Barry era.
