Even though he didn’t make the final group of nominees for 2019, LeRoy Butler’s chances of getting enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame seem to be increasing by the year.
The safety position has been a tough sell to hall of fame voters as both Butler and former Denver Broncos safety Steve Atwater have fallen short though Atwater was a finalist this year while Butler was a semi-finalist. Ed Reed of the Baltimore Ravens was elected as a first ballot candidate this year.
Atwater really is the biggest obstacle to Butler’s election despite Butler producing better statistics as well as more selections as an all-pro.
