Tuesday Cheese Curds: Jordan Love showcases improved deep passing in preseason debut

Jordan Love’s preseason debut came down to one throw.

On third-and-5 on the Packers’ opening drive, Love let loose a deep shot toward the right sideline, finding Dontayvion Wicks behind the Browns defense. Wicks did the rest, sailing 65 yards for a score.

The throw in itself looked more or less unremarkable, but that’s noteworthy on its own considering how often deep passes were an adventure in Green Bay last year. Love and the Pcakers hit plenty of deep balls in 2023, but on a season-long level, they were terribly inconsistent.

One throw doesn’t erase all concerns, but it was a good enough connection to earn Love the rest of the night off and it could be a sign of things to come.
