Succeeding in special teams is usually enough for a player to make a roster but eventually you’ll have to demonstrate other skills to remain on the roster.
That moment has arrived for Green Bay Packers wide receiver Trevor Davis. He’s made the roster the past two seasons largely on his kick return abilities and has struggled to develop as a wide receiver.
This year’s training camp has been different. Davis is still penciled in as the frontrunner for kick returner but he’s also being challenged in that role by undrafted rookie Darrius Shepherd.
