Another member of the great Vince Lombardi-era Packers has passed away
Hall of fame defensive end Willie Davis died yesterday at the age of 85. Davis was one of the great pass rushers of his time and would likely be the Packers’ all-time sack leader if sacks were considered a statistic during his playing days (officially, Clay Matthews is the all-time sack leader).
Davis to this day still holds the team record for recovered fumbles with 21 and was one of the great athletes of his time. Vince Lombardi knew immediately how good he could be and as usually was the case with the legendary coach, he was right.
