Green Bay Packers GM Brian Gutekunst announced that the team will be returning to a draft strategy that served the team well in the past. In a press conference earlier this offseason, Gute announced that the team would resume selecting quarterbacks regularly on day three of the NFL draft.
While it may not happen every year, the Packers will be looking to take a flier on quarterbacks that fit their developmental criteria. The goal is to develop new backups and possibly eventually to trade them for additional assets down the line.
Gutekunst reiterated he was pleased with the team’s current backup, Sean Clifford.
