Going into Week 16, the only path for the Green Bay Packers to to win the NFC North title involved the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings losing out until the final week of the season, the Packers winning out the rest of the way and the Lions and Vikings tying in Week 18. This would have placed Green Bay at the top of the north with a 13-4 record, while the Lions and Vikings tied for second with 12-4-1 marks.
On Sunday, though, the Packers’ slim divisional champion hopes vanishes when the Chicago Bears dropped by a score of 34-17 to the Lions, mathematically eliminating Green Bay from the NFC North title race.
