Not too long ago, the future at the safety position looked bright for the Green Bay Packers, thanks to the strong play of Adrian Amos at strong safety and Darnell Savage at free safety. Now? Not so much. The Packers voided Amos’ contract, making him a free agent, and Savage was benched last season, only to reemerge as a nickel cornerback in the late part of the season. There was online chatter that Rasul Douglas could make the transition to safety, but that was shut down by head coach Matt LaFleur last week when he acknowledged that Douglas’ best position was outside corner, a position that he will start out at to begin the season.
