The Lass Word: Packers Come Up Golden in Red Zone

There were several things to be encouraged about after the Packers’ first preseason game, but here is the stat that brings the biggest smile to my face: Four trips to the red zone...four touchdowns.

Of all the factors that killed Green Bay last season, the one that hurt the most was the team’s inability to score touchdowns from inside the opponent’s twenty yard line. The Packers ranked 23rd in red zone touchdown percentage. It was particularly painful in the season finale against the Lions, when Green Bay had to settle for field goals twice in the first half.
