As NFL free agency approaches, time is running out for the Green Bay Packers to find a way to keep running back Aaron Jones and center Corey Linsley. With each day that goes by, it appears more likely they will join the list of notable Packers that are allowed to walk away.
General Manager Brian Gutekunst gets paid to make these decisions. Along with the draft, they determine whether he keeps his job. Letting players walk is an inexact science to be sure. It is easy to second guess using hindsight. Gutey and his predecessor Ted Thompson didn’t have that luxury.
