GREEN BAY, Wis. -- From his home in San Diego, it pained Sam Seale to see what defenses did to the Green Bay Packers last season.
The team’s West coast-based scout watched team after team stack the box against Aaron Rodgers and dare his receivers to go deep. The outcome was usually the same: the slow perimeter group failed more often than not to get open down the field. It resulted in Rodgers’ lowest yards-per-attempt average (6.4) since he became a starter in 2008, and the Packers offense dropped all the way to 23rd in the league (including tied for 25th in passing yards).
