Green Bay — Ron Wolf always was a straight shooter. He called it the way he saw it.
So in a classically drama-free, pointed news conference after the unveiling of his name along the eastern facade of Lambeau Field Sunday afternoon, the former Green Bay Packers general manager was asked about his legacy. And more to the point, if he agreed with the fans who consider him the reason the Packers returned to their winning ways.
Wolf paused, considering the idea.
"Well I don't want to appear to pat myself on the back — but they're right," said the 76-year-old, with a chuckle.
