Former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh has several ties to the Green Bay Packers organization. First of all, he’s extremely close friends with Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, who was the best man at Saleh’s wedding. LaFleur and Saleh worked together at Central Michigan back in their college days and with the Houston Texans early on in their NFL careers.
Secondly, Saleh was the defensive coordinator for current Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Haley when Hafley was just a defensive backs coach with the San Francisco 49ers. With all that in mind, it was not surprising when Saleh popped up in Green Bay on Wednesday for practice, just a few weeks after he was let go as the Jets’ head coach after posting a 20-36 record over three years and change.
