Rewinding 19 years shows similar situation for Packers

Nineteen years ago, Packer Nation was in a collective state of panic.

Robert Brooks, Green Bay's No. 1 wide receiver, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a torn patellar tendon in Week 7 against San Francisco. The Packers, Super Bowl favorites in the minds of many, suddenly appeared vulnerable.

Fast forward to today, where Packers No. 1 receiver Jordy Nelson suffered a torn ACL during Sunday's preseason loss in Pittsburgh and is out for the season. Green Bay, once again a Super Bowl favorite, seems susceptible much like that 1996 team did.

Amazingly, though, those 1996 Packers went on to win Super Bowl XXXI.
