Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Tuesday night that the Green Bay Packers appear to be headed towards hiring former Browns head coach Mike Pettine as thier new defensive coordinator. Pettine will replace Dom Capers, who has coordinated Green Bay's defense since 2009. Pettine was also a defensive coordinator for the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills.
Pettine's defenses were nothing short of outstanding. Below are the Defensive DVOA ranks for the defenses that Pettine has coordinated in the past:
Pettine's first defense with the Browns wasn't terrible, either. The Browns checked in at 11th, decidedly above average.
