Unlike last summer, a strong training camp wasn’t enough to get Darrius Shepherd back onto the Green Bay Packers roster.
According to Bill Huber of SI.com, the Packers are releasing Shepherd on Saturday.
An undrafted free agent from North Dakota State who was signed as a tryout player, Shepherd impressed during training camp last summer and made the initial 53-man roster. He played in six regular-season games but struggled, especially during a Monday night game against the Detroit Lions, and was eventually released, only to return on the practice squad and remain in Green Bay for the rest of the season.
