GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers will be moving on from one of their top veteran defenders this week as the team continues to look for ways to create more cap space.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Tom Silverstein, the Packers will cut former All-Pro linebacker De’Vondre Campbell this week on Wednesday in a move that will create more than $10 million in cap space and give the team more than $20 million in total cap space.
The new league calendar year begins on Wednesday at 3 p.m., and by waiting until Wednesday, Silverstein reports that the Packers can put a June 1st designation on Campbell’s release and will gain the extra salary cap room by cutting him right away.
