San Francisco — My first exposure to this was half a life ago, when a slew of Washington fans wearing pig-snouted masks rolled into Tampa for what many expected to be a repeat Super Bowl championship over the Los Angeles Raiders.
When the Raiders dominated, 38-9, the Redskins' top defensive coaches, Richie Petitbon and Larry Peccatiello, set out along Dale Mabry Highway through the chilly night air, so upset that they walked the six or seven miles back to the team hotel.
As crestfallen as the Redskins were, the Raiders and Al Davis were equally jubilant.
