When asked at the NFL owners’ meetings whether defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt could be due for a breakout second season, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said: “Yeah, he’s going to need to”.
The defensive front has got younger this offseason following two veteran departures, and second-year pro Wyatt now has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.
In his rookie year, Wyatt saw the field less than any of Green Bay’s other defensive linemen, playing just 21.86% of snaps. That was somewhat surprising.
The former Georgia defender wasn’t supposed to be a project. He was an older rookie, as many players in the 2022 draft class were due to the impact of COVID-19.
