Packers tight end Andrew Quarless out for eight games

Green Bay — The Green Bay Packers are gambling that they won't suffer any more two-month injuries to a starter this season.

If they do, they will have to carry him on the 53-man roster if they want him to return later in the season because they have used their only injured reserve/designated to return option on backup tight end Andrew Quarless.

The Packers announced the decision Wednesday.

Quarless, who suffered a left knee sprain on Monday night against Kansas City, must miss a minimum of eight games this season. He is eligible to practice after six weeks.
