According to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman, the Green Bay Packers have released three players before Tuesday’s practice: kicker James Turner, fullback Henry Pearson and cornerback Zyon Gilbert. With Turner’s release, the Packers’ kicking competition is down to just two players: returning starter Anders Carlson and former Minnesota Vikings starter Greg Joseph. Through six training camp practices, Turner had gone 12-of-18 on field goals while both Carlson and Joseph went 16-of-18.
Pearson was the lone fullback on Green Bay’s roster, meaning that the team will have to fill in backfield snaps with the tight end position, something they have done in the past under head coach Matt LaFleur.
