The Green Bay Packers weren't going to play on Monday night with just three wide receivers. Woth Davante Adams out and Allen Lazard on injured reserve, the Packers needed to bring a player up from the practice squad to serve as an emergency fourth wideout, and Reggie Begelton got the call.
This season, NFL teams can elevate two players from the practice squad to the active roster on the day before a game. However, the Packers also needed help at linebacker and defensive line, so somebody needed to be formally promoted to the 53 as well at one of those positions, and Begelton got the nod over linebacker Scoota Harris and defensive lineman Billy Winn.
